ABOUT ANGELO LEO

Angelo Leo’s boxing journey began in 2004 at the Jack Candelaria Community Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he was trained by his father, Miguel Leo, and the great Luis Chavez, who helped Danny Romero to two world titles in the 1990's. In 2017, Angelo caught the eye of Floyd Mayweather after sparring Gervonta Davis at the Mayweather Boxing Club, which led to him signing with Mayweather Promotions and moving full-time to Las Vegas. In 2019, he secured a dominant victory over Cesar Juarez on the Gervonta Davis vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa undercard. In 2020, Angelo became WBO super bantamweight champion as the betting underdog against Tramaine Williams. In 2021, he and Stephen Fulton combined for 1,993 punches—one of the most action-packed super bantamweight title fights ever.
In 2024, he earned ESPN’s Knockout of the Year against Venado Lopez. In 2025 he successfully defended his IBF Featherweight title in Osaka, Japan against former world champion Tomoki Kameda. He became the first ProBox TV fighter to win a world title. Both world titles—against Williams and Lopez—came as the betting underdog. Angelo is apart of the great lineage of New Mexico world champions—Johnny Tapia, Danny Romero, Bob Foster, Holly Holm, and Austin Trout.
Beyond the world titles, beyond the money, and beyond the fame, Angelo Leo is just a kid from Albuquerque, and he is one of you.
